Hyderabad: A customer in Hyderabad, Vinay Vangala, found a fly baked into his packet of Osmania biscuits on Saturday. He had consumed nearly half of the packet when he found the fly. Vangala lodged a formal complaint with the local food inspector and the food safety commissioner. "Both authorities assured me that they would investigate the matter thoroughly," Vangala told Deccan Chronicle. He said the manufacturer, based in Jalpally, mentioned a valid certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The discovery has sparked concerns about the effectiveness of the FSSAI certification process as well as monitoring quality.
