YDERABAD: SOT sleuths of Cyberabad commissionerate have seized a huge quantity of adulterated ginger and garlic paste from a manufacturing unit at Katedan Industrial area and detained the owner of the unit. The owner, Mohd Ahmed, was found to be using chemicals in manufacturing the paste, said police. Ahmed had a FSSAI licence, but even after its expiry two years ago, he was operating with the same licence, they said. According to Rajendra Nagar police, Ahmed was using gum powder for consistency in the paste, sodium benzoate, a chemical power for softness, and also turmeric powder and garlic peel wastage in the making of the ginger and garlic paste.
