He was speaking while presiding over a meeting on the implemention Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006 at his office. He said that the district administration has received complaints from the public regarding bakeries and hotels selling adulterated food items to consumers. Officials from the food and civil supplies, health, legal metrology departments have been directed to conduct surprise raids on receiving such complaints.
Officials must also check and book cases against those hoteliers, bakery shops, and street vendors using harmful colours to prepare varieties of sweets and other dishes and prepare them in unhygienic conditions, he said.
He also want cooks and staff, who are involved in preparation of food in various hotels, roadside vendors to maintain cleanliness, meat and chicken shops sellers to keep their shops clean, besides action against vegetable vendors who are using harmful vax in their shops
